Narva-Ivangorod
The move to cooperation
Cross-border cooperation between Narva and Ivangorod is recent. It originated with the impetus of the Interreg IIIC project "City Twins Co-operation Network” in which both municipalities took part, and truly started in August 2006 with the signing of a cooperation agreement.
This agreement comprised several objectives:
- the resolution of problems linked to the management of projects on the external border of the European Union;
- networking of border stakeholders in different fields (social affairs, culture, education, tourism);
- the development of cooperation activities and exchanges of good practice on an economic, entrepreneurial and administrative level;
- the development of common infrastructure;
- increasing the attractiveness of the territory and encouring the implantation of businesses and foreign investors;
- the creation of favourable conditions for the development of contact between citizens and organisations.
