Cieszyn-Český Těšín
Functioning of cross-border governance
Close cooperation at Euroregional level
The cross-border conurbation Cieszyn-Česky Těšin functions like a capital for the Euroregion, whose size facilitates local cooperation actions based on tangible needs. The Cieszyn Silesia Euroregion covers 15 Polish communes, the largest of which are Cieszyn and Jastrzębie-Zdrój, and 44 Czech communes, the largest being Havířov et Karwina.
The internal functioning of the governance structure
The Euroregion’s operation are supported by a council, composed of 12 councillors representing the member municipalities, a secretariat of four persons, and 4 working groups (infrastructure; economy and employment; environment and health; culture, education, tourism and sport) each composed of two members.
A cross-border strategy
The cooperation of the Euroregion is based on the "Cieszyn Silesia development strategy 2001-2016" which sets out the strengths and weaknesses of the territory, as well as the issues and actions to be undertaken until 2016.
