Climate change, risk management and prevention
Overview
Introduction
Climate change adaptation and prevention and management of hazards are among the priorities of European policy, under the sustainable development pillar of the Europe 2020 strategy, one of the five objectives of which is concerned with climate change and sustainable energy (20% decrease of greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990, 20% use of energy produced with renewable sources and 20% increase of energetic performance).
This topic is gaining importance at the European level and is a legitimate concern in a cross-border context. Numerous projects have already been set in motion for adaptation to climate change and hazard prevention in border areas. In parallel to the climate change international conference held in 2015 in Paris, many Interreg programmes have refocused on their environmental commitment by re-ensuring their action against climate change.
