On the occasion of the Interreg annual event held fromOctober 26th to 28th, 2022, the MOT team presented the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on European territorial cooperation on which it has been working since 2021 with six other partners and the European Commission.
After the creation of the University of the Greater Region in 2008, its six partner universities have announced the continuation of the first multidisciplinary center of expertise of the UniGR in the field of border studies: the "UniGR-Center for Border Studies".

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the European Archaeological Park of Bliesbruck-Reinheim, its two historical partners, the Department of Moselle and the Saarpfalzkreis, have initiated an in-depth reflection to make this site "a laboratory for local Franco-German cooperation."
The MOT study for DG REGIO is published! It assesses two years of pandemic-related border management and its impact on border regions; and makes recommendations for future management, also taking into account the current revision of the Schengen Borders Code.

On September 19th, 2022, the MOT organised a meeting to launch the "cross-border living areas experiment" project. The objective is to define the concept of "cross-border living areas" and to analyse the needs and expectations of the territories concerned, as well as the legal opportunities and obstacles, in order to arrive at recommendations.
On 23 September 2022, the closing ceremony of the project "PAMINA Care Services" took place. Concrete and promising results were presented by the PAMINA Eurodistrict, the project leader, as well as by the project partners (hospitals, health insurance funds, ARS, Landkreise, etc.).
On October 14th, the Prefect of Moselle gathered the Local Committee for Territorial Cohesion (CLCT). On this occasion, a participatory approach was proposed to the various participants, via the organisation of five working groups, the objective of which was to identify the engineering needs of local authorities, the existing solutions, and to promote the exchange of good practices and feedback from the field.
As a further step towards the construction of the European electricity network, a new 190 km EHV line, entirely underground, is being built between Savoy and Piedmont. It will increase the electricity exchange capacity between France and Italy by 40%.
Following the modification of the French sports code (article L231-2-1) by the 3DS law of February 21st 2022, sportsmen and women residing abroad, and in particular in a country bordering France, no longer need to present a medical certificate when registering for a sports competition organised partly in a French border department.
Spatial planning is one of the essential levers for achieving carbon neutrality. This is why the partners of Greater Geneva wished to commit themselves to drawing up a new "cross-border territorial vision" in line with the objectives of ecological transition and to build the territory of tomorrow with a view to being carbon neutral by 2050.
On October 6th and 7th, the Assises Nationales du Foncier et des Territoires were held in Nancy. Aimed at discussing land issues in all their aspects, from upstream to downstream and from strategy to implementation, they brought together nearly 600 people, elected representatives and professionals, from both public and private sectors, for conferences, workshops and round tables, in 11 thematic sessions.

The Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière has chosen the Basque Country to host its General Assembly and we are very honoured. With its 150 km of borders and its position at the heart of Western Europe, our territory has a long history of cross-border cooperation, reinforced by the creation of the Basque Country Community in 2017.

The summer of 2022 marked the launch of two parallel missions for the MOT concerning the territory of the Hautes Vallées Conference (CHAV) at two different territorial levels.
This strategy, adopted by the Region on June 24th, 2022, takes place in the context of strengthened cooperation between France and Italy since the signing of the Quirinal Treaty at the end of 2021, as well as the historical links with the Principality of Monaco
In the most integrated cross-border regions, economic and academic interdependencies are increasingly strong. Join us in exploring the challenges and the opportunities related to the implementation of these innovative cooperations between neighbouring universities. The workshop takes place on October 11th. This study on planning and permits regarding projects for sites intended for major retailers in the SaarMoselle Eurodistrict, on the Franco-German border was carried out by the MOT and the German consultancy Junker+Kruse, for the Saarbrücken Regionalverband.
After a year of deliberations, the Conference came to an end on 9 May 2022. In the closing ceremony in Strasbourg, the Presidents of the European Parliament, Commission and Council received a final report from the Conference participants containing 49 wide-ranging, ambitious and forward-looking proposals and 326 individual measures.
